The Early Years
Lee ant Ted Hanson founded Polly Ann Ice Cream in 1955. During the following years, Polly Ann developed a reputation for creating exciting and exotic flavors. The Hansons admitted that it took about seven years to perfect the vegetable flavored ice cream. From the many various vegetable flavors, it's obvious that there was quite a bit of experimentation.
Mei and Charlie Wu bought the store in 1985. Having been born and raised in Taiwan, the Wu's quickly began adding Asian flavors ("lichee," "green tea," "red bean", etc.) to Polly Ann's list of flavors. Since buying the store,
the Wu's have continued Polly Ann's search for new flavors to tickle any ice cream lover's taste buds.
Charlie and the Ice Cream Factory
Charlie Wu has continued Polly Ann's reputation as a friendly and wacky ice cream parlor. The regular clientele includes not only local residents, but also numerous students and tourists. Those new to Polly Ann may find it difficult to select a flavor.
For those having a difficult time deciding on a flavor, let the Wheel of Fortune make the decision for you. Anyone can spin the Wheel. The rule however is that the customer must try whatever flavor the wheel lands on. For those feeling lucky, the Wheel offers four free "lucky" spots that provide free scoops of ice cream.
